Beautiful Oak Cabinet Refinish in Warwick, NY

GSG Custom Coatings was hired to refinish these beautiful oak cabinets in Warwick NY by taking the typical stained oak finish of another era and updating it to a new silky smooth painted finish. Oak is a premium wood species that has beautiful grain structure and texture to the wood. Along with our client, we agreed this would be best highlighted rather than hiding it. Maintaining the premium quality of the original wood. The results were nothing less than stunning. But, before all the finish work could be applied, a lot of effort went into preparing the wood for its new updated look. Cleaning and degreasing all surfaces was critical, followed by a thorough sanding to profile the existing coating, then wood fillers applied where necessary. Our client decided he wanted to change his hardware from knobs to pulls so we filled the knob hole flush and smooth, measured and drilled for new hardware. What a difference new hardware makes! That little update goes a long way! Once the initial prep was complete we applied two coats of Renner 643 primer catalyzed 10% for ultra durability. Once dry, we sanded our primer smooth and fine tuned details where necessary. Then, for that silky smooth finish we applied two topcoats of Renner 765 also catalyzed 5% for that extreme durability.
