High Quality kitchen cabinet refinish in Warwick NY

Our client in Warwick NY wanted to brighten up her kitchen by refinishing the cabinets with a new painted finish. The existing finish was a dark walnut stain. We used our proven prep and finish process to transform and update the cabinets, breathing new life into this kitchen. We started by removing all the doors and drawer fronts, labeling them so when it’s time to re-install we know exactly where they go. We then bring the doors and drawers to our finishing shop where we can work on them in a very controlled environment. All surfaces are then cleaned and degreased really well. For some doors we even use a dental pick to remove grease and contaminants from hard to reach areas such as joints. After a thorough cleaning, we allow the doors to dry before proceeding to the next step…sanding. Sanding is a very important part of the process. It removes any existing finish that is failing and profiles the surface in preparation for a new coating. All sanding is done with 3x4 and 5”sanders attached to dustless HEPA vacuums to minimize dust and provide even sanding across the whole surface. Once sanded, we begin the filling process. Attention to detail is paid when filling ensuring all dents, cracks and minor surface damage are filled and repaired…a critical step in achieving a flawless finish. Once filled all surfaces are sanded smooth and vacuumed again. Now, the priming process begins. Two coats of very high quality primer are applied. Sanding between coats for adhesion and smoothness. Surfaces are checked again for any detail filler that may have been missed or needs touch up. Then the best part…we begging to apply the finish. Two coats of ultra premium industrial wood coatings are applied with a catalyst added (aka a hardener) for extreme durability. On this project we used Renner Industrial Wood Coatings.
